Animal Health & Welfare: FAQs
How often must I renew my dog's license?
Q: How often must I renew my dog's license?
A: The state of Pennsylvania requires that every dog over 3 months of age be licensed annually. The Center is authorized to issue licenses for Northampton County. You can apply for a license at any time, but the license is only good for the calendar year in which it was issued.

The fees vary depending on whether the dog is spayed or neutered. Lifetime licenses are available, and the licensing fees are reduced for senior citizens. If your dog is spayed or neutered, be sure to bring proof from your veterinarian when applying for your license. You can purchase licenses during regular Center business hours.
